Nursery Preview

I am pretty excited at how Alex's room turned out.  Here are a few pictures of his room so far.  As you can tell I LOVE Owls.  Daniel is working on building his crib =)  Alex won't be sleeping in it for a few weeks because we are going to have him in our room sleeping in a Rock n Play sleeper until we feel comfortable sleeping in his own room (I know OCD but I don't care).  To be able to say that he built his crib is pretty special.  He also built his nightstand.

Some of the artwork I made for his room.  Paint color is light mist by Behr.  It changes hues depending on how the natural light hits it.  I love how calming it is.

I can't wait to put a picture of our little man in that frame.  Dan made the nightstand.  The lamp is from Babies R Us.  So cute!

Chaise lounge from IKEA.  Incredibly comfortable.

Rug from Urban Outfitters.

Changing table/dresser from Target and the mirror is from Home Goods.  The table is stocked and ready to go with all his changing supplies, blankets, and clothes.  Notice the little
owls at the top?

Bear given to us by my friend Laura.  I love the tie she put on him!

Owl night light from Anthropologie.  Thanks Aunt Tina!

His crib will go underneath his name and we have two book cases we are painting to go on each side of the crib.  I have lots more trinkets, stuffed animals, picture frames and books that I will put in the book cases.

This rocking horse was made by my Grandad when I was little.

Our bedding for the crib.  It is made by Skip Hop.  This is what started the whole owl theme
 in his room.

I will post more nursery pictures when we are totally finished.  To be continued...

Happy Birthday Daniel!

Circumference of belly:  43ish in.
Best moment this week:  Celebrating my husbands 30th birthday!  I don't care how cheesy any of this sounds because it is the truth.  He is my best friend, my better half, and my everything.  He brings more joy into my life than anyone else and I thank God everyday he blessed me with such an amazing, supportive, and sweet husband.  I love you honey!
Worst moment this week:  My hips, tail bone, and lower back are constantly aching.  Blah.  The end is near...
Labor signs:  Still getting contractions and 1 1/2 cm dilated.
Miss anything:  I think I will talk about the three things I will miss the most about being pregnant this week.  1)  Feeling his hiccups.  He gets the hiccups everyday and it is the funniest feeling.  It seriously tickles.  2)  Watching him move when I eat or drink certain things.  Some of his favorites are sweet tea, orange juice, fruit, milk, and french fries.  3)  Watching Daniel listen for his heartbeat.  Alex already loves his daddy and will start jumping around when Daniel puts his head to my stomach to listen to his heartbeat.
Movement:  He moves but I am not quite sure how.  It has got to be pretty uncomfortable in there.
Sleep:  Weird dreams are back and I don't sleep more than an hour at a time.
Food cravings:  Nothing really.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  No
Baby purchases:  My Dad's office threw him a surprise "Grandbaby shower" and they bought lots of sweet things for Alex like clothes, bibs, diapers, and bath toys.  It was so sweet and unexpected =)
Symptoms:  Pain.  Lots of pain.
Belly button in or out:  It has started to pop out just a little but nothing super noticeable.
Wedding rings on or off:  On
Looking forward to:  Our C-Section is scheduled for Tuesday, January 29.  Holy cow that is right around the corner.  I can't wait to meet our son but I am crazy anxious about the procedure.  However God is in control and I know he will take care of all 3 of us.

Full term!

Circumference of belly:  43 in.  WOWZA!!!!!
Best moment this week:  Finally seeing the end is near and Alex will soon be here!  Doctor confirmed with another ultrasound that he is still breech last Friday, sitting head up and criss-cross apple sauce.  He has decided to go ahead and schedule a c-section for my 39th week.  If for whatever reason he turns we will just be induced instead.  We will know next week the exact day and time.  I am starting to come to terms with having a c-section.  As much as it still freaks me out I just want our baby here safely so if that is what we have to do then we will.
Worst moment this week:  Being constantly uncomfortable.  I get these pains up in my ribs that feel like my ribs are seriously snapping in half.
Funniest moment this week:  Realizing even my maternity pants are too snug.  I will be sporting black leggings every day from here on out.
Labor signs:  Still getting sporadic contractions.  They always start in my back and wrap around my front.
Miss anything:  My body.  I am ready to have my body back.
Movement:  Lots of stretching and rolling movements.
Sleep:  Sleep is overrated.
Food cravings:  Dairy.  Yogurt, milk, ice cream, cheese, etc.  And still Golden Chick.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  No
Baby purchases:  I have stocked both our diaper bags with all the essentials (yes Daniel got his own bag because mine is too girly for him.)  In case any guys out there are looking for diaper bags check out Diaper Dude.  They make some pretty manly bags that look nothing like a diaper bag.
Symptoms:  Heartburn, back pain, contractions, pain in my ribs, etc etc etc.
Belly button in or out:  Flat
Wedding rings on or off:  On
Looking forward to:  Three day weekend this weekend.

No picture.  Too tired.  But here is my chalkboard =)

36 Weeks

Circumference of belly:  Somewhere between huge and gigantic.
Best moment this week:  Had a great doctors appointment on Tuesday.  Doc says things are progressing like they should be.  Also we got to see our little man yesterday at our last sonogram.  We were told he is in a breech position (grr) so basically his head is up in my ribs and his feet are on my bladder.  If he turns before delivery day great otherwise we might be heading towards a c-section.  I originally thought it wouldn't be a big deal but I am not going to lie and say I am not a tad freaked out.    He is also measuring a week ahead.  This should be an interesting next few weeks.  We also had two showers this week up at my school and my friend Laura's house which were both wonderful!
Worst moment this week:  Pain in my ribs.  Now that I know that is his skull it makes perfect sense why I have been in crazy pain lately.
Labor signs:  The doc told me I am 50% effaced at this point which is good.  Also been having contractions off and on occasionally but nothing serious.  Crazy to think we are at the point when our little man could seriously come at any time.
Miss anything:  Being comfortable.
Movement:  He wants out as badly as I want him out at this point.
Sleep:  Eh.  I'm either changing positions non stop or thinking about things I need to do before he gets here.
Food cravings:  Golden Chick all day everyday.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nope
Baby purchases:  Just the last minute things I still need for him...mostly essential type stuff.  We have been very blessed with the amount of gifts we have gotten from our friends and family.  This boy is spoiled already!
Symptoms:  Acid reflux and pain up high in my abdomen.
Belly button in or out:  Flat.  Dan is pretty disappointed about this.  He had high hopes of this thing popping out.  Sorry honey =)
Wedding rings on or off:  On
Looking forward to:  Meeting Alex!

35 weeks

I have been kind of late posting these lately...oh well...we are technically starting our 36th week.

Circumference of belly:  42 1/2
Best moment this week:  Resting.  Truth be told, I am really not excited to go back to work next week.  I wish I could just stay home, do things around the house, and wait for this baby to come but I don't want to waste a minute of my maternity leave sitting at home.  I want to save all the time I have for being with Alexander.  Really hoping these last few weeks go by quickly!
Worst moment this week:  Just being constantly uncomfortable.  Sitting, standing, sleeping, walking, etc.  I have had (or at least I think) a very easy pregnancy and have loved every minute of it but I am seriously ready to just get this show on the road already!
Labor signs:  I can't believe it is time to add this to the blog.  CRAZY SAUCE!  I am 99% sure I had my first contraction the other day.  I was driving and got this crazy pain that started in my lower back and wrapped around to my lower abdomen.  It reminded me of having cramps.  It lasted about a minute and then subsided.  Definitely something I have never felt before.
Miss anything:  Sitting without having to adjust my position every 5 minutes.
Movement:  He still loves my left side.  I only ever feel hiccups on my lower right side.  We will know very soon what position he is in.
Sleep:  Sleep?  What's that?
Food cravings:  I really wanted cantaloupe the other day and definitely polished off a whole melon in a day.  I did have some help from Dan.  Milk is still something I want daily.  I also had a serious craving for ice cream the other night.  I have never really been a die hard sweets fan but this was serious.  Dan couldn't even believe it but he didn't question it and immediately took me to Freddy's =)
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nope
Baby purchases:  Hospital bag is packed and ready to go.  Now we are just playing the waiting game (insert song from Jeopardy here).
Symptoms:  Just the usual...also been getting over some nasty allergies.  The nasal rinse (Neilmed) is seriously my bff and the best invention ever.  This has kept me from having to be on antibiotics.  Preggo or not if you want to escape a trip to the doctor do this daily.
Belly button in or out:  Flat
Wedding rings on or off:  On
Looking forward to:  We have an appointment this Tuesday.  We will be going once a week from then on until Alex is here.  Let the countdown begin!

Now about this picture.  As my husband would say "here's the deal"...This was at 8 a.m. and I was more concerned about getting to HEB before it got insanely busy than I was about taking this picture.  My face is puffy and I am exhausted so a profile shot it was.  Just focus on the belly.
